letter from the editor

Dear Panthers,

The Vehicle is graciously excited to present the annual 2026 Spring issue! Our team would like to thank all the writers and artists who submitted. Eastern holds an abundance of great talent and perspective. With such amazing pieces searched through, we hope you enjoy this issue's collection.

Congratulations are also in order to the Winnie Davis Neely winners: poetry winner Trent Jonas for “Waiting For the Thaw,” drama winner Nate Horner for “Darlings,” fiction winner Jenna Tobias for “Much Like a Bug, Ever-Snug,” and creative nonfiction winner Ophelia Klein for “Woman.”

So much time, discussion, and dedication were put in by our staff and editor to produce this wonderful magazine. A special thank you to Dr. Abel for her guidance and patience this semester, and for always approaching obstacles with positivity. A final thanks goes to you, the reader. Thank you for all the support you have shown and for being a part of the Eastern Illinois community.
